What is the RénoVert program?
18 Dec 2017
The RénoVert tax credit is a temporary provincial program that was put in place with the goal of encouraging individuals to perform recognized eco-responsible home renovations—including the installation of Energy Star doors and windows—that have a positive impact on energy conservation and the environment.
The amount of the reimbursable tax credit can go as high as $10,000. It corresponds to 20 percent of any expenses above $2,500 that you have had during the program eligibility period, which has been extended until March 31, 2019. For example: If you have $7,500 worth of work done, $5,000 qualifies for a tax credit, which will amount to $1,000.
Take advantage of RénoVert for your doors and windows
The RénoVert program emphasizes energy efficiency to encourage commitment on the part of residents of the province to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The replacement of doors and windows with products bearing the Energy Star label is eligible for this tax credit program. Furthermore, the work must be performed by a qualified eco-responsible renovation company, as the quality of the installation is essential for ensuring durability, energy efficiency and savings on your electricity bills.
Energy Star certification for doors and windows
Energy Star is an energy-efficient product certification program, administered by Natural Resources Canada. Energy Star certified doors and windows must comply with strict technical specifications related to energy efficiency and are subjected to numerous tests, including water-tightness, air-tightness, heat-loss prevention and pressure variation, before they can acquire certification.
More than 95 percent of the products sold at Verdun Doors and Windows are Energy Star certified and are therefore eligible for the RénoVert tax credit. (However, please note that single-pane and cremone bolt windows do not qualify.)
Creating a window that perfectly responds to Quebec’s extreme temperature fluctuations is no easy task. Achieving a perfect balance between solar heat retention in the winter and blockage of solar rays in the summer is a complex procedure. That’s why Portes et Fenêtres Verdun offers Energy Star products to best meet the needs of the residents of Quebec. Thanks to our numerous Canadian suppliers, it’s possible for you to find doors and windows that meet the requirements not only of your home, but also of your budget, in addition to qualifying you for the RénoVert tax credit.
